New Speedway Boogie; a supposed rebuttal to critic Ralph J. Gleason's damnation of the Altamont incident.


40 years ago today, this greatly loved song first appeared in the Dead's repertoire It was played off and on, as well as recorded in the studio over the next nine months, then disappeared for over 20 years. It might well hold the record for GD songs that have been played more in post-Jerry Dead projects than number of times played as part of actual GD shows 1969-1995.

i agree bd!! i never heard that cover before!! thank you for the link!! this is the first time i ever heard of black cab and they do new speedway boogie justice. i;ll be lookin for more from that band!!a new day a new band to listen too.!!thanks again bd.
